ABOUT US

My name is Pamela Speldewinde and I am the owner and director of the Action School of Yoga. The school was established in 1983 by Glenn and Margaret Ceresoli who relocated to New South Wales in 2002 to launch an international focused school of yoga - "Yogamind". In 2004 Glenn and Margaret asked me to take over the Action School and I now continue the school’s tradition of introducing many Melbourne students to the benefits of this style of yoga. I have invited Robin Anderson and Joel Hill to join me as teachers at the school. Robin is a certified Iyengar teacher and Joel is currently studying with Glenn Ceresoli for his certification.

We like to keep our approach very simple and uncomplicated. The initial focus is on our physical practice, turning our attention to achieving this greater freedom and comfort in our bodies. This requires us to become mindful of how we undertake each pose or 'asana' to ensure we build stability and alignment. We become mindful of the unique needs of our own body and circumstances, tapping into the great knowledge base that yoga has developed over thousands of years to gain better understanding of what is true for ourselves now. Once we reach these moments of understanding then we know what it is we need to do; what we need to put into action. “Knowledge and Action. Understand and Do.”

Pamela Speldewinde is the owner and director of the Action School of Yoga. She has been a teacher at the school since 1997.  She has a background in performing arts and education and has taught yoga in many institutions and organizations. Pamela is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher.

Robin Anderson has been a teacher at the school since 1995. He has a background in horticulture and has been involved in athletics and distance running. He also runs classes in Balnarring on the Mornington Peninsula.

Joel Hill has been teaching since 2005. He also has a background in horticulture and has quickly established himself as a very valuable member of our team.

All teachers at the school have undergone training through the school and its founder Glenn Ceresoli an internationally recognised senior Iyengar Yoga teacher. Our aim is to ensure that there is a quality and consistency of teaching style that provides our students with an invaluable foundation of knowledge and skill.

“Yoga offers us techniques to become aware, to expand and penetrate, and to change and evolve in order to become competent in the lives we live and to initiate sensitivity and receptivity towards the life of which we are still only dimly aware.” BKS Iyengar
